Rebecca Richards is the managing principal of Acacia Pacific Aquaculture and its affiliate, San Diego Bay Aquaculture, which emphasize sustainably-grown native species, where possible, to showcase the local bounty. The culturing of shellfish and seaweed, when practiced and managed responsibly, strikes a unique balance between healthy seafood production and the benefits that shellfish and seaweed contribute to ecosystem recovery and resiliency. In partnership with the Port of San Diego as a member of its Blue Economy Incubator Program in marine aquaculture, and founding co-owner of Tuna Harbor Dockside Market, she strives to provide nutritious seafood choices and honor the principles of ocean stewardship.
