Margaret has been captivated by food culture for as long as she can remember. Raised by Taiwanese immigrant parents who grew beautiful squash and passion fruit year after year in a small backyard garden, Margaret has always cherished the way food connects people to each other and to the Earth. Her mixed-culture upbringing has fostered a lifelong commitment to relationship-building, storytelling, and social justice.
In her role as Communications & Storytelling Director at the Alliance, Margaret leads a team responsible for building unique digital operations to support the Alliance's innovative programs, and for getting the stories of the food justice movement out into the world—stories of dreams fulfilled and change realized, and stories that expose the ongoing oppression of communities at the hands of extractive systems. Margaret is passionate about illuminating the intersection of food, economy, climate, justice, and culture, and amplifying the voices of leaders who have been fighting for food sovereignty for generations.
